The newly released Castlevania Dominus Collection is the latest remaster of classic Castlevania games, and if you’re looking for a monster-hunting fix on PC, Green Man Gaming has you covered. The retailer is offering Castlevania Dominus Collection for 25% off its list price, knocking the cost down to $18.74 for four 2D Castlevania titles. If you grab this deal, you’ll get a key to redeem on Steam, which is pretty cool considering Steam itself has the collection for the full $25 price.
Castlevania Dominus Collection includes three side-scrolling games that were originally released on the Nintendo DS: Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. The ports bring all those games to a single screen, as opposed to the DS’s dual screens for which they were designed, which means all three have been slightly redesigned to compensate. Map and inventory screens now appear on the right side, as opposed to the bottom screen on DS. Another notable change is Dawn of Sorrow’s stylus drawing mechanic has been been adapted into quick-time events.
In addition to the three Nintendo DS Castlevanias, the Dominus Collection also includes a remaster of the first Castlevania arcade game, Haunted Castle. The port features a reworked version of the arcade game, as well as the option to play it in its original format.
Dominus Collection also adds a few quality-of-life improvements to all the games, like rewind features and save states.
This is actually the third Castlevania game collection as Konami has released old entries in the series that were only available on dated hardware. You can also snag the PC version of 2019’s Castlevania Anniversary Collection on Fanatical, which knocks 20% off the list price, bringing the cost down to $15.74 from the usual tag of $20. The Anniversary Collection includes eight games: Castlevania, Castlevania II Simon’s Quest, Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, Super Castlevania IV, Castlevania The Adventure, Castlevania II Belmont’s Revent, Castlevania Bloodlines, and Kid Dracula. It also packs in the ebook History of Castlevania – Book of the Crescent Moon, which documents the franchise’s development history.
The Dominus Collection is slated to get a physical release with multiple cover options from Limited Run Games, and preorders will be available in September. You can also get physical additions of the Castlevania Anniversary Collection and Konami’s other re-release of Castlevania games, Castlevania Advance Collection, on Amazon, some of which offer alternative cover art. Check out the list below. Fair warning: Many of these physical editions are quite expensive, as they are out of print and sold by third parties.
Disclosure: GameSpot and Fanatical are both owned by Fandom.
